First draft of the joystick PCB designed this week, a parallel development to the grid version, exploring whether the interaction model changes with a different physical form factor. The joystick variant changes how force is applied and read, which has downstream effects on how the visuals could respond.
Consultation on 19 March: feedback pointed to better video, better visuals, better documentation. All three are things I knew needed attention but hadn't fully acted on yet. The note is logged.
WEEK 10
First Draft
Joystick variant PCB designed, exploring how a different physical form factor changes the interaction model and sensor mapping.
Paper Merchant Visit
Visited KPP Antalis paper merchant in Tuas to explore packaging paper options for the zine and publication outputs.
The visit to KPP Antalis in Tuas was about the zine and publication side of the project. The paper merchant carries stock that's not available at typical art supply shops, different weights, textures, and finishes that affect how the printed work feels in hand. Paper is part of the design.
The zine format for Visual Harmonics is planned as three short publications. The paper choice will shape the register of each one, whether it reads as documentation, as artifact, or as something between.
