Made a song this week. It came out of the project's material, a way of staying close to the sonic side of what Visual Harmonics is supposed to respond to. The controller is built for performers, and making sound with it (or adjacent to it) is part of understanding what the tool needs to do.
The open studio video storyboard was finalised, the format needed to be clear before the recording with Riduan could happen properly. On 25 March we recorded the video. Riduan as a practitioner brings a specific kind of presence to the controller that general participants don't. The footage from this session is the core visual document of the project.
WEEK 11
25 March Recording
Recorded open studio video with Riduan (practitioner performer). Core visual document of the project.
3 Short Publications
Overall zine format decided: 3 short publications. RJ paper bought. Helped other students with 3D printing.
Bought RJ paper this week, the material for the zine is settled. The format of 3 short publications gives each one a distinct scope rather than trying to make a single comprehensive document. Three different entry points into the same project.
Visual research on OpenProcessing sketches continued alongside the making, looking at how others are handling real-time visual response to input. The open studio lighting plan took shape in a conversation with Wen Soon: projection and orange warm lights as the environment for the work.
